Hand Made Plaster Dado Rails

Dado Rails or Chair Rails were first used in the Georgian period to protect walls from furniture. In modern homes, the purpose of the dado is mainly aesthetic. Traditionally, dado rails were installed at around 36" or 900 mm, which was a suitable height to protect the wall from the backs of chairs, it is now common to see decorative dado rails at 1200 mm or even 1500 mm from the floor.
We stock a range of British made Dado Rails, made by hand using traditional techniques and strengthened by hessian and wooden slats.
